Description
Premium Orchid Potting Mix | 2L
Made for healthy orchid roots.
Most orchids don’t grow in soil in nature.
Many grow attached to trees where their roots are exposed to fresh air, drying quickly after rain before the next watering.
Our Premium Orchid Potting Mix is made to recreate those conditions in a container by balancing airflow, drainage and moisture retention.
Every bag is hand mixed individually and arrives ready to use straight from the bag.
Why orchids need a different growing medium
Using regular potting soil for most orchids can keep the roots wetter than they like.
Orchid roots need access to both moisture and oxygen to stay healthy.
That’s why orchid growers use coarse growing media instead of traditional potting soil.
Our Orchid Mix combines premium ingredients that create open spaces around the roots while still holding enough moisture between waterings.
Healthy roots grow healthier orchids.

Why these ingredients work together
No single ingredient creates a great orchid mix.
Some create large air spaces around the roots.
Some retain moisture between waterings.
Some help the mix maintain its structure over time.
Together, they create a growing medium that provides the balance of airflow, drainage and moisture most orchids need to thrive.
Every bag is hand mixed individually.
We don’t make large batches and divide them into bags.
Each Plant King bag is hand mixed individually using the same recipe before it’s sealed.
It takes longer, but it helps every bag start with the same balance of ingredients.
How to use
Gently remove as much of the old growing medium as possible without damaging healthy roots.
Trim away dead or rotting roots with clean scissors if needed.
Place your orchid into a pot with plenty of drainage and gently work the mix around the roots without packing it tightly.
Water thoroughly, then allow excess water to drain completely.
Watering Tips
Most orchids prefer to dry slightly between waterings.
How quickly that happens depends on the orchid, pot type, temperature, humidity and light in your home.
Instead of watering on a schedule, check the roots and growing medium first. Healthy roots and the condition of the mix are much better indicators than the calendar.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I repot an orchid while it’s in bloom?
It’s usually best to wait until flowering has finished, unless the plant has root rot, severely broken-down media or another issue that makes repotting necessary.
Can I reuse the mix?
Yes. Many of the ingredients, such as LECA, Satsuma and bark, break down much more slowly than traditional potting soil. If the mix is still in good condition, remove any old roots or organic debris, then clean and sterilize it before reusing. Replace any material that has noticeably broken down.
Can I grow orchids in a pot without drainage holes?
We don’t recommend it. Most orchids benefit from excellent drainage and airflow around their roots, so a pot with drainage holes is the better choice.
Should I pre-soak the mix before using it?
It’s not required, but many growers like to lightly moisten or briefly soak the mix before potting. This helps hydrate the sphagnum moss, moisten the bark and make the mix easier to work with during repotting.

Absolutely love this soil for my orchids, provides plenty of air for the roots and help them grow, they started blooming after being in this mixture after a little bit!
Akayla Boyle –
My orchids absolutely love this mix. Within weeks of being transplanted into it they are thriving, blooming and growing new leaves so fast. The mix is perfect for drainage and giving the roots enough air to breathe. I also like the aesthetic of this mix over other brands.
