Monstera Thai Constellation is a slow-growing, variegated cultivar of Monstera deliciosa. It has large green leaves with cream or white marbled variegation and natural splits. This plant was developed in a lab and is not found in the wild. Monstera Thai Constellation needs consistent care, including proper soil, light, and humidity. If conditions are unstable, the plant will show signs like browning, yellowing, or stalled growth.
Monstera deliciosa ‘Thai Constellation’ (mon-STAIR-uh dee-liss-ee-OH-suh TIE kon-stuh-LAY-shun)
FAMILY:
Araceae (Aroid family)
ORIGIN:
Monstera Thai Constellation is a man-made cultivar first developed in a laboratory in Thailand.
SIZE:
Height: Typically 2 to 4 feet (60–120 cm) indoors with support. Width: Can spread 2 to 3 feet (60–90 cm) if not staked or pruned.
SOIL:
Monstera Thai Constellation requires a chunky, fast-draining aroid mix that holds some moisture without compacting. We recommend Plant King Premium Aroid Mix, which contains pine bark, LECA, perlite, coco coir, worm castings, and Nutricote controlled-release fertilizer.
If mixing your own soil, use equal parts pine bark, coco coir, and perlite or pumice. Add worm castings for a mild nutrient source and a controlled-release fertilizer for steady feeding.
LIGHT:
Monstera Thai Constellation needs bright, indirect light to maintain its variegation. Without adequate light, the leaves will lose contrast and the plant will slow its growth. Direct sunlight can burn the lighter patches of the leaves.
Place Monstera Thai Constellation near a bright window with filtered light. A grow light is a good option if natural light is limited.
WATER:
Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry out before watering Monstera Thai Constellation. Overwatering leads to yellow leaves and root rot. Underwatering causes browning, especially on the variegated areas.
Water thoroughly and let excess water drain out completely. Never leave Monstera Thai Constellation sitting in standing water.
HUMIDITY:
Monstera Thai Constellation prefers humidity above 60%. Low humidity can cause browning on the leaf edges, especially on the variegated sections.
Use a humidifier, pebble tray, or group Monstera Thai Constellation with other plants to increase local humidity levels.
FEEDING:
Feed Monstera Thai Constellation with a balanced fertilizer during the growing season. Use Nutricote T100 for long-lasting, controlled-release nutrition, or apply a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer.
Do not fertilize Monstera Thai Constellation in fall or winter when growth naturally slows down.
POTS:
Use a pot with drainage holes for Monstera Thai Constellation. Terracotta pots are helpful if you tend to overwater, as they allow excess moisture to evaporate more quickly.
Add a moss pole or support to encourage upward growth and larger, more fenestrated leaves.
WINTER CARE:
During winter, Monstera Thai Constellation will slow its growth. Reduce watering, stop fertilizing, and keep it in a warm, stable environment. Avoid cold drafts or cold soil.
Monstera Thai Constellation needs the right soil to grow well. If your mix stays too wet or compacts over time, it can cause problems fast. A proper aroid mix makes all the difference.
