Fine Tropical Mix

Blend with our Premium Fine Tropical Mix if you’d like a finer, more economical blend while still maintaining excellent drainage and aeration.

Chunky Aroid Mix

Prefer a slightly finer mix? Blend it with our Premium Chunky Aroid Mix to reduce the chunkiness while still maintaining excellent airflow.

Succulent Mix

Combine it with our Premium Succulent Mix to create a gritty, fast-draining blend that’s still significantly grittier than many standard garden centre succulent soils.

Carnivorous Mix

It can also be blended with our Premium Carnivorous Mix, but there are a few things to keep in mind.

Our General Purpose & Seed Mix contains no added fertilizer or nutrient-rich amendments, making it suitable for growers who want to adjust the texture or stretch their Carnivorous Mix.

However, this blend is approximately a 50/50 mix of peat moss and coco coir. While coco coir is an excellent growing medium, it can naturally contain more dissolved minerals than peat depending on how it has been processed and rinsed.

If you’re growing mineral-sensitive carnivorous plants such as Venus Flytraps, Sundews or Sarracenia, we recommend measuring the TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) of your finished mix and using the appropriate blend for the species you’re growing. As always, use distilled, reverse osmosis or clean rainwater where appropriate.

Outside, worms, insects, roots and the weather are constantly loosening and aerating the soil.

Inside a pot, none of that happens.

Over time, potting soil can settle, reducing airflow around the roots and making watering more difficult.

Watering Tips

No potting mix can completely prevent overwatering.

How often your plants need water depends on the plant, pot size, drainage, light, temperature and humidity.

Instead of watering on a schedule, check the soil first. Water thoroughly, let the excess drain away, then wait until your plant actually needs water again.
